(acetaminophen 325 mg/dextromethorphan 10 mg/phenylephrine 5 mg) liquid capsule

How the medication works:

Acetaminophen fights against pain by stopping the central (in brain) production of prostaglandins, which are important substances to cause swelling , and by increasing the pain tolerance. It fights against fever by stopping fever producing substances at the hypothalamus. Dextromethorphan works by decreasing activity in the part of the brain that causes coughing. Phenylephrine works by reducing swelling of the blood vessels in the nasal passages. This medication will only relieve symptoms, and it will not treat the cause.

 

Indication:  
Cold and Cough 

Adults and Children > 12 years:

Take 2 caplets by mouth every 4 hours as directed for temporarily relief. 
 

Children 4- <12 year :

Consult your doctor 
 

Children < 4 years: Avoid 

 

Adverse effects:

• Dizziness

• Drowsiness 

• Nervousness

Exclusions for self-care:

• If patient has  a liver Disease or heart disease 

• If patient has a medical history of high blood pressure 

• If patient is currently suffering from thyroid disease  

• If patient has diabetes

• If patient has difficulty urinating due to swollen prostate gland

• Cough due to chronic conditions, such as asthma, emphysema, bronchitis or smoking  

 

Do not use...

• If patient is taking other over the counter or prescription product containing acetaminophen

• If patient is currently taking Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOI) or has stopped taking MAOI in last 2 weeks 

• If cough produces too much mucus 

• Stop use and ask your doctor 

• If patient experiences nervousness,dizziness or sleepless

• If patient persistently experiences cough, congestion and pain > 7 dats

• If patient persistently experiences fever > 3 days 

• If patient experiences redness or swelling 

• If patient notices new symptoms 

• If patient experiences cough with rash or headache 

 

Drug Interactions: 
Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOI)

 
Special Instructions:

Avoid taking other over the counter or prescription product containing acetaminophen. Maximum 4 doses in a day. While taking this product, avoid  > 3 alcohol drinks/day
