Guaifenesin 400mg tablet

Compared to Mucinex 400mg tablet, Robitussin 400mg tablet

How the medication works:

It works by thinning the mucus in the air passages to make it easier to cough up the mucus and clear the airways. It takes about 30 minutes to state working


Indication:

Chest congestion: Take 1 tablet by mouth every 4 hours as needed for chest congestion

Productive cough: Take 1 tablet by mouth every 4 hours as needed for productive cough


Adverse effects:

  • Nausea

  • Vomiting

  • Drowsiness

  • Dizziness

  • Stomach pain


Exclusions: Call your doctor

  • Children under the age of 12 years

  • If patient does not experience symptom improve in 7 dats

  • If patient experiences persistent fever, rashes and headache

  • If you have asthma, inflammation of bronchials and lung diseases causing breathing problems

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding


Do not use if..

Allergic to guaifenesin

 

Drug Interaction:

Monoamine Oxidate Inhibitors (MAOIs)

 

 

Stop use and ask your doctor if

  • Excessive mucus production

  • Continuous cough > 7 days

  • Other symptoms, such as fever, headache and rash

 

Special Instructions:

Take this medication with a full glass of water. Do not take more than 6 tablets in 24 hours.
